Sessions #1 -w/ Ross Smith: Dribbling

Session #1 - Setting the Standard! This is the MOST IMPORTANT session out of all the training and practices you will do. We are laying down and introducing the main principles that will serve you well through your season! 

Every session - we focus on: 

  1. Soccer Skill - Skill/Concept focus. Today, we will be looking at our dribbling technique 

  2. The Code - Lesson #1: Setting the Standard. How to create an environment to ensure everyone is engaged and on the same page. Today, we lay the foundation on attitude and approach for the players. We will SET THE STANDARD that will carry us through the season!

Session #2 - Reinforcing principles established from our first session, and then moving the needle forward. You now know where you stand skill wise with the players, and they know where you stand with the standards you have set. Because of this, your session will start to find a fun groove! 

Session Focus: 

Soccer Skill - Passing Technique

The Code - Lesson: Finding your Coaching Voice. Understanding the importance of simple and consistent verbiage and being firm vs being fun with your voice.

Session #3 - w/ Steve Guppy: The Art of One v One/Body Movement

Steve Guppy is a former 20 Year Pro, England International, and now, a Pro Assistant Coach. Further on, he has achieved the highest level for Coaching Badges, with his UEFA A License. Guppy brings his wealth of knowledge to the training ground, offering valuable insight into a couple of areas that he feels is vital for players at the youth age! ENJOY!! 


Session Focus:

Soccer Skill: One vs One situations - Body movement on the ball. Combing movement with your feet, hips and shoulders. 


The Code - Lesson: Pace of a Session. Understanding the importance of efficient instruction, exercises that keep players on the move, and quick transitions to keep players engaged.

Session #4 - w/ Giles Cheevers: Teammwork 

Giles hails from Ireland and is a former Professional Coach. A Qualified teacher, Giles also holds his UEFA A Coaching License and puts it to really good use. Currently, Giles is a teacher at the Montgomery Bell High School Academy in Nashville, Tennessee, where he coaches boy soccer. As well, Giles is involved with a local soccer academy, spear heading elite sessions.

Soccer Skill: Working as a team/awareness of space

Session #5 - w/ Ross Smith: First Touch

Session #5 - w/ Ross Smith: First Touch

NOW AVAILABLE -  Already into the 5th session - now we are cooking with players on the same page as the Coach in terms of the understand of what is expected from them in their approach to each session. 


Soccer Skill: First touch - Looking at the difference between stopping the ball dead vs taking a touch into space or away from pressure (both little touch and big touch). 

The Code: Easing Up! In this session, we encourage Coaches to let their personality show a little more, while ensuring your can switch your tone back to reeling in the players when need be!

This is a great session to test your players and revisit specific skills. Also - this session works great if you have low numbers. We had several players who were going to miss this session due to a tournament, but we wanted to continue, as this is the reality of recreational soccer and Coaching.
